Witchcraft in Their Lips – Spring 2016

The Women of Shakespeare’s History Plays is A Partnership between ImprovEd Shakespeare, En Route Productions, and Untamed Shakespeare.

This is a Past Production from the Spring of 2016. The adaptation is by Stephanie Donowho and Nell McKeown. In this case, ImprovEd Shakespeare had an All-Female Youth Production. The director for this spectacle is Lindsay Doleshal.

“Deceitful dame | Ruthless woman | Belike she minds to play the Amazon.”

Some may question the concept of producing Shakespearean history works through the eyes of women. Indeed, many describe the idea as absurd! Yet, we understand, and moreover, believe in the revelatory nature of artistic, plus creative liberty. Thus, in light of this imagination, coupled with inventiveness, Nelson McKeown and Stephanie Donowho accomplished something extraordinary. As a result, they’ve created a new spirited play. A production, from the viewpoint of women, using only the Shakespearean text from the history plays.

Fortunately, we’re lucky enough to workshop the youth version. And, we think it is to your advantage to see it!

Directed by Lindsay Doleshal of En Route and Present Co.

The production stars a cast of nine adolescent females ranging in ages from 11 to 15 years.
