ImprovEd Shakespeare’s
    COMEDY of ERRORS
    Spring, 2017

Inspired by Austin Shakespeare‘s in the Park production of Comedy of Errors, we chose to perform the same piece. This is a really fun script. Unfortunately, performing space in Austin has reached a state of emergency and we weren’t able to secure a performance time with our friends at Austin Scottish Rite Theater. Having used the ImprovEd Arts Studio for the site-specific performance of Julia Caesar in January, we felt we could use the space for our own version of outdoor Shakespeare: Shakespeare in the Backyard. This provided an opportunity we hadn’t experienced as a small theatre company: the chance to rehearse and perform in the same space. Thus, this production of fifteen 8-13 year olds involved our most elaborate staging to date. And as the story takes place in a town and at various homes, the setting proved ideal. Spring also marks the Sherwood Forest Faire and they invited us to return for another weekend of performing. Our intern, Zia Kinzy, took a lot of photos during rehearsals, too, so we have the most thorough photo documentation of rehearsals of all our productions.
