ImprovEd Shakespeare’s
    ALL GIRL COMEDY of ERRORS
    Spring, 2017

During Shakespeare’s time, a company of performers was composed of a single gender. Unsurprisingly, it was all men, including boys, in those troupes. Now, however, in the present day, things are different. Here at ImprovEd Shakespeare, we gender-morph, gender-blend, and gender-switch, all the time. Following upon the heels of our site-specific performance of Julia Caesar in January, we assembled the cast again for an all girl traveling (through the house and around the yard) piece. The audience had to follow along, inside, outside, and from room to room. Plus, we intentionally live-streamed the whole thing, including the performers as camera operators. It was truly an immersive experience. In addition, spring-time brings our favorite tradition: performing at Sherwood Forest Faire! Thus, the performers were challenged to bring this all girl Comedy of Errors production both back in time and into the future. Co-directed by H. Cherdon Bedford and Andee Kinzy. Special thanks to Analisa Sweeten for her additional camera work.

We ended the season with a trip to the Texas Nonprofit Theatre Festival’s Annual Youth Conference by twisting things up, again… a gender-swap. Our female players played the male characters as males. And our male players played the female characters as females. Things are always a hoot around here!
