Lucentio’s Lovelorn Life Leads to a Lovely Lady. Who loves Lucentio? I don’t!!! Personally, I think he is a shallow man who wants lots of money. Besides, I’m already married to the fabulous Bassanio from Merchant of Venice.

Who loves Lucentio? Bianca does!!! Apparently… well, she seems to like him more than Hortensio. To get this clarified, I went straight to the source: Bianca.

Portia: Hey there, Bianca, there’s been some drama about you and Lucentio lately. So, to clear it up, I wanted to ask you a few quick questions. You up for that?

Bianca: Well, I don’t have anything better to do, besides flirt with more boys.

Portia: Then, to start us off, I was wondering why you picked Lucentio instead of Hortensio?

Bianca: It’s obvious, Lucentio is totally cute and Hortensio… He’s cute and everything, but he doesn’t seem to have as much money as Lucentio.

Portia: So, you pretty much married Lucentio because he has a bunch of money?

Bianca: Now, don’t start jumping to conclusions. I also married him because he has a big house, expensive cars, and buys me as much jewelry as I want.

Portia: So, you did marry him for the money?

Bianca: Ha, ha, gulp. No, you um… Just took that the wrong way. Look, let’s just move on.

Portia: Alright, my next question is; did you have any other suitors at the same time Lucentio was courting you?

Bianca: Yes. I had about three others. There were a lot of guys who wanted to marry me, but only four of them, Hortensio, Gremio, Tranio, and Lucentio had the guts to court me.

    Money, It’s What I Want

Portia: Did you think all your suitors were handsome?

Bianca: No! One guy, his name is Gremio, was like super old and wrinkly. Although he did have lots of money.

Portia: But, you do love Lucentio, right?

Bianca: Uh. He’s grown on me.

Portia: Okay, good. Just wanted to make sure. Speaking of love, do you love your sister, Katharina, or do you think she’s a jerk?

Bianca: Just between you and me, Kate was never a shrew. I just provoked her into acting like one while our dad, Baptista, was around. Oh! And when my suitors were around too.

Portia: You almost ruined her reputation! Did that ever concern you? Or did the thought never even cross your mind?!?

Bianca: Actually, it did cross my mind… After I was happily married! I know, I was a pretty terrible sister.

Portia: Good. I’m glad you admitted that you were a terrible, horrible, no good, very mean sister! Sorry, kinda lost control there for a second.

Bianca: No problem. After I lost my husband 100 crowns, I realized that I’d been pretty unfair.

Portia: I still want to know if you really love Lucentio? Earlier, you answered my question on why you picked Lucentio over Hortensio. Now, I want to know if you really do love your husband.

Bianca: I do, just sometimes I wish I had married someone a little smarter.

Lucentio’s Lovelorn Life Leads to a Lovely Lady. Well folks, there you have it. Bianca really does love Lucentio. And I still don’t.
